THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION IS RUN BY APPOINTED - NOT ELECTED

ENTREPRENEURS WHO ARE FRIENDS OF THE ELECTED POLITICIANS LOOK FOR THE WAYS TO DIVERT MONEY FROM THE PUBLIC COMMONS TO PRIVATE BUSINESS INTERESTS.

THEY STEAL FROM THE PUBLIC. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT GIVING ANYONE AN EDUCATION. THE PUBLIC GOOD IS SACRIFICED TO THE GREED OF THOSE WHO HAVE THE POWER TO SIPHON TAX PAYERS MONEY INTO THEIR THEIR POCKETS.

WHO ARE THE EducRATS?
WHO ARE THE PLAYERS WHO SET K12 EDUCATION POLICY?

Controlling the education of students everywhere with a uniform and politically correct curriculum of compliance and servitude is obvious to international observers. In a paper by Angela C. Siqueira presented to the Annual Conference of the Comparative and International Education Society called "The World Bank New Discourse and the 1999 Education Strategy", secret documentation is examined that already describes global education policies that will be applied to education initiatives around the world that eerily predict the form and deployment of NCLB in America.

THE ROOTS OF EDUCRATS' INITIATIVES IN THE VISION OF HISTORICAL POWER ELITES

WHAT IS AN EDUCRAT?

larry summersThe word is a hybrid, combining the Latin part of educator with the Greek part of bureaucrat.

EducRATS CONTROL the intersection between Government (Dept. of Ed), Politicians, their friends, Global Corporate Media, and Global Industry:

EducRATS believe in process. Educrats use "the process" of how children learn to disguise what they are really interested in which is how they can best use the Department of Education, the politicians who are their friends, and the media, to make their greedy global corporation more money.

The Department of Education is run by whoever the President chooses to anoint and appoint. Citizens don't vote for these people.

The person selected is always about business, research, collecting data, tests, and who to give money to. People who work there are University trained accountants, economists, and people who have owned education businesses. It is not run by teachers. They want to "study" everything and decide where to spend the money, and who to give the money to. Nothing about any of this is related to the education of children.

It is easy to see all the data they spend their careers collecting at the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System . If you ever want to understand what's wrong with the Department of Education, all you need to do is look at this website.

According to the Daily News Hedge fund executives give 'til it hurts to politicians, especially Cuomo, to get more charter schools
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/education/hedge-fund-execs-money-charter-schools-pay-article-1.2145001

Gates Foundation - Walton Family Foundation - Governor Cuomo - Daniel Loeb, chairman of the board of the Success Academy network - Joel Greenblatt donated $45,000 to Democrats for Education Reform, a political action committee that, in turn, has given Cuomo $72,000.
Carl Icahn, Chairman of Icahn Enterprises and founder of several Bronx charter schools, donated $250K to the group New Yorkers for a Balanced Albany, which aims to keep the state Senate ine GOP hands. Loeb contributed $1 million. So did Robertson, whose son Spencer runs a Brooklyn charter school. The others included Paul Tudor Jones, founder and chairman of Excellence Charter School, with $500,000; Icahn, who founded several Bronx charter schools, with $250,000; and Gotham Capital’s Joel Greenblatt, a founder of Success Academy, with $250,000. Paul Tudor Jones, founder and chief investment officer of Tudor Investment Corporation, also donated half a million to the GOP-supporting group which blasts upstate Democrats as ties to de Blasio.
Gates Foundation and Walton Family Foundation hosted an event focused on spurring investment in charter schools. The event, "Bonds & Blackboards: Investing in Charter Schools," was held at the

Harvard Club in NYC. This event is just an example of a long term effort by hedge fund executives to close public schools and expand charter schools. As the article details, this effort is hallmarked by donations to politicians, aggressive lobbying, and seven-figure donations to pro-charter expenditure groups such as New Yorkers for a Balanced Albany

All that money and lobbying triumphed when Cuomo and the Legislature approved up to $2,600 more per pupil for charter school facilities, with New York City expected to pick up a big portion of that.

Now, the governor wants the Legislature to increase the state limit on charter schools.

Little wonder the big-money hedge fund managers gathered at the Harvard Club. They were there to examine, according to program literature, “the current state of the charter schools facilities financing landscape and new innovative financing mechanisms.”

In other words, all that money thrown at the politicians is about to pay off.

THUGGEE BUSH GANGSTER FAMILY

Jeb Bush created the “Foundation for Educational Excellence” with two goals in mind.

First, to burnish his credentials as a “reformer.” Second, to serve as a vehicle for advocating vouchers, charters, online learning, and high-stakes accountability.  Peter Greene writes that we now know who contributed large sums to Jeb’s FEE. We may safely assume that they shared Jeb’s policy goals.

He writes:  It is not an exact list in that donors are organized by ranges. So we know that Bloomberg donated somewhere between $1.2 million and $2.4 million, which is quite a margin of error. But it’s still a chunk of change, either way.  Joining Bloomberg Philanthropies in the Over a Cool Million Club are these folks, a completely unsurprising list:  Walton Family Foundation (between $3.5 mill and over $6 mill) B&M Gates (between $3 mill and over $5 mill) Charles and Helen Schwab Foundation (between $1.6 mill and $3.25 mill) News Corporation (between $1.5 mill and $3 mill) GE Foundation (between $2.5 mill and over $3 mill) Helmsley Trust (at least $2 mill)

The Might Have Hit a Million Club includes  The Broad Foundation Jacqueline Hume Foundation Robertson Foundation Carnegie Corporation of New York Kovner Foundation The Arnold Foundation

Beyond those, we find Florida businesses and a fair sampling of folks who have a stake in the FEE mission, like McGraw Hill and Renaissance Learning.

For the most part, it is a familiar list of billionaires and mere multimillionaires. What Greene notes is that there is no evidence of a grassroots base for Jeb’s activities. It is the same old, same old super-rich people–the 1%, if you will–fattening one of their favorites spokesmen.  Or, as he writes:  The truth about FEE is a reminder– for the gazillionth time– that we have yet to see an actual hard-core full-on grass roots movement in support of reformster policies. It’s also a reminder that if education issues were being decided on merit, or if all the Rich Person money just dried up tomorrow, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Ed reform is a big delicate rosebush in the middle of the desert, and money is the water that keeps it alive. Shut off the water, and it’s done.  Since there have been no positive results for any of the billionaires’ favorite Big Ideas, there is always the chance they will get bored. Never underestimate the power of boredom among the glitterati.

WHITE SHOW LAWYERS

EduShyster on White Shoe Lawyers, Civil Rights, and Charters in Massachusetts
Three of Boston’s most prestigious law firms (“white shoe” lawyers) have combine to litigate for more charter schools in the name of civil rights.
She asks some pertinent questions: Do they know that charters are more segregated than public schools? Do they know that children in charter schools abandon their civil rights at the door? Do they know that many charter schools do not “backfill” (i.e., accept students who apply to enroll in grades after their entering class)? Do they know that the odds of young males graduating from a charter school in Massachusetts are small?
She writes:     What? You want to know how it is that civil rights can be used to argue for more charter schools, when, according to a growing body of case law, students in charter schools don’t actually have civil rights? Or how, in the course of four decades, *civil rights* could go from a fierce battle over desegregating schools and diversifying the teaching force to the right of students to attend more segregated schools and be taught by young, mostly white teachers? Or why our pro bono-ists seem so charmingly ill-informed, not just about the state’s charter schools, but about all of the schools that are publicly attended? All mere trifles, reader. While the constitutional challenge to the charter cap has yet to make its official debut, it gets underway unofficially this week with the hottest ticket in town: the annual charter school lottery. Our pro bono-ists will identify a handful of lottery losers, invite them to become plaintiffs, then introduce them to the press, Vergara-style. Of course, the bold plan is not without its challenges. Like getting past that *awkward* bit about the plaintiffs being denied access to *high-performing seats* that have no students in them because of the charter lobby’s staunch position against *backfilling.* Also, probably best to avoid including a would-be 9th grade boy in the plaintiff pool, as he turns out to have about as much chance of graduating from a Boston charter high school, going to college and completing college as he does of winning the actual lottery. But I digress. (The links are in the post.)

Based on the 1999 education sector strategy and World Bank documents... -snip- ...it seems that the main target is to create intellectual dependence and impose a one-sided solution and view of the world, by eliminating the possibility for the emergence of alternative perspectives. In summary, the Knowledge Management Bank and its Education Knowledge Management System seem to be an attempt to foster the commodification, sterilization, and standardization of knowledge. Therefore, it constitutes a serious peril to democracy, which presupposes diversity and not homogeneity.

President Obama sent to the Senate his nomination of Jim Shelton to be Deputy Secretary of Education.

U.S. Department of Education's $650 million fund to boost education innovation.

Jim Shelton, assistant deputy secretary for the Office of Innovation and Improvement, said it is easier than ever for schools to use new ideas and products because of increasing Internet connectivity, cheaper technology and the growing use of hard data to measure outcomes. "The shift toward evidence as the currency for education ... will make it a much more rational market," Shelton said. "It will be much easier for entrepreneurs to prove that what they have is what people should be spending time and money on."

JPMorgan Chase's plan is a way for the bank to make money from public education rather than provide charity to it. For the $100 million that the bank is providing in "new markets tax-credit equity," JPMorgan gets a tax credit through a federal program that lets taxpayers receive credits against income taxes for qualified investments in designated community-development entities. The credit for the investor equals 39% of the cost of the investment, and is claimed over seven years. Essentially, it amounts to a loan; they're making money from the government because they're able to offset these funds with this tax credit.

THE STUDENT  /WORKER'S PERSPECTIVE -  JOKE'S ON YOU

Research from the National League of Cities,

The United Conference of Mayors, and the National Association of Counties forecasts that close to 500,000 municipal workers will lose their jobs. Those worker terminations will take place some time between this fiscal year and next. Local governments plan to reduce work forces by 8.6% from fiscal 2009 to fiscal 2011. Municipalities and states operate on mid-year fiscal periods. A deeper look at the survey numbers shows that most of the cuts will be made in the public safety and public works areas. That raises the threat of a significant attrition in law enforcement work forces and employees who manage and repair infrastructure, particularly roads.
