OBJECTIVES

✔ For the student to question the simple assumption that going to college is a must: to understand under what context it is a good idea or not such a good idea. 

✔ To be aware of the resources that exist for assessing college affordability

✔ To understand the few options that do exist if you actually have accrued educational debt

✔ To understand the various degree options and career tracks beyond the traditional college degree route.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

1. What are the different metrics a person needs to take into account when assessing if college is a good investment for them

2. Name five career tracks that don't require a college degree?

3. Why is it that online universities aren't the great education "equalizers" that they claim to be? Give several reasons why this is the case.

4. How specifically are foreign students hurting U.S. innovation?

5. How is the advancement of technology actually increasing the gap  between the rich and the poor.
