Koch Brothers' Tea Party Movement

Tea Party Roots in the American Liberty League

Definition Oligarchy: control by a few prominent families who pass their influence from one generation to the next.

Throughout history, some oligarchies have been tyrannical, relying on public servitude to exist, although others have been relatively benign.
Aristotle pioneered the use of the term as a synonym for rule by the rich, for which the exact term is plutocracy, but oligarchy is not always the rule of the wealthy, as oligarchs can simply be a privileged group, and do not have to be connected by bloodlines as in a monarchy.

Definition of Plutocracy - When these very families buy the politicians to protect their "special interests", this is also know as facism.

"We Are the 53 %" movement, which refers to the 47% of Americans who don't pay federal income taxes.

"The fight for freedom" is really only about those fighting for their own business interests, by maintaining the status quo.

Fact Check: The historical roots of the Republican Party

Republicans weren't always about small government but on the contrary - they asked government to push big projects!

When fact-checking, you will discover that Illinois and Chicago and the Midwest were built by a government project, a big government project ! ! !

The Illinois Michigan Canal that connected the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River Tributary System got started when - government figures - in the territory of illinois, began pushing for it in 1810 and pushed, and pushed, and pushed until 1848, when the canal opened and changed the global economy.
They also pushed for a government built railroad if no one else would build it. But a private company finally came to the rescue with a great deal of what looks like government encouragement -- the result -- ?
The population of Chicago went from 350 to 90,000 in 50 years, all because of big government working with private enterprise. The roots of the party were in big government transportation infrastructure projects: the TARP of its day. The Homestead Act of 1862 with which the Republican Party bought its voters: a big government giveaway that made the kind of private liberties we dream of possible.

2013 Stephen Colbert takes on the PA GOP plan to rig the Electoral College.

Republicans continue to hold on the the majority in the House, by a 33 seat margin, even though they lost the popular combined vote. They did this by gerrymandering - they redrew congressional districts to make them a lock on the GOP. Voters don't pick our leaders. It is just the opposite. LEADERS PICK THEIR VOTERS. GOP legislators in MI, WI, PA, & VA want "... proposals that would allocate [presidential] electoral [college] votes by congressional district...." "Pileggi argues that the winner-take-all system is inherently unfair because the losing party.... gets no credit in the electoral count." If you apply this plan, then the people never get to vote in the president they want. Video

Secret Money -- 501c4 - Colbert's Lawyer Trevor Potter
Stephen Colbert learns how to give Colbert Super PAC money to himself and thereby hide it forever from all eyes and use it in a way that he wishes.

Superpac --> 501C4 -->Agency Letter --> Anonymous 501C4-- >

To Transfer the money from the Superpac over to your 501c4, create an "Agency Letter" that tells the C4 that he is going to create a whole new and anonymous C4 and then the FIRST one transfers the money to the second one. Then the second one which Stephen Colbert will also run then disperses it - into his own pocket if he wants. And we are sure that no one will be able to trace it.

Doesn't the IRS know about the money?

2013 The IRS is investigated because requests for 501C4 haven't been approved in a timely manner.

K12 Education Tea Party

The C4 says it never received the money and it never spent it so the NEW Anonymous 501C4 will send a postcard to the IRS with its tax return on it  - and there are no numbers on it!  You don't have to tell the IRS anything.

May 20, 2013 Trevor Potter Featured on The Colbert Report Regarding 501(c)(4) Groups

The Colbert Report regarding Stephen Colbert's application for tax exempt status of his 501(c)(4) organization.

Mr. Potter explained that "there is no legal requirement that you file with the IRS an application for exemption" and confirmed a 501(c)(4) organization can be formed without actually asking the IRS to form one. To view the full feature, please visit The Colbert Report's website 12:58
Colbert learned that his PAC, a 501(c)(4), was never granted tax exempt status by the IRS because the Colbert Super PAC SHH never filed for it, even though it is a registered Delaware corporation and hundreds of thousands of dollars have passed through it.

“Your lawyers advised you that there is no legal requirement that you file with the IRS an application for exemption,” Potter explained.

“Wait a second,” Colbert replied. “You can form a 501(c)(4) without asking to form one? These tea party anti-big government organizations didn’t have to ask big government for permission but they did anyway?”

“Right,” Potter replied.

Soaking the Poor, State by State By Kevin Drum

There's not one single state with a tax system that's progressive. You have heard, perhaps, that rich people in America are egregiously overtaxed. And the poor? They're the lucky duckies! Why, 47 percent of Americans pay no taxes at all!
(This is not true, of course. Many poor and elderly Americans pay no federal income tax, but they pay plenty of other taxes.)
Still and all, it's true that the federal income tax is indeed progressive. Conservatives are right about that - though it's not as progressive as it used to be, back before top marginal rates were lowered and capital gains taxes were slashed in half. But conservatives are a little less excited to talk about other kinds of taxes. Payroll taxes aren't progressive, for example. In fact, they're actively regressive, with the poor and middle classes paying higher rates than the rich.

And then there are state taxes. Those include state income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, and fees of various kinds. How progressive are state taxes? Answer: They aren't.Check the table below to see how your state scores.

The Corporation for Enterprise Development released a scorecard for all 50 states, that includes overall tax rates, where data from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy shows that in the median state (Mississippi, as it turns out), the poorest 20% pay 2x the tax rate of the top 1%. In the worst states, the poorest 20% pay five to six times the rate of the richest 1%.

Watch an NPR STORY in which JAMIE Talk about Family Wealth
So much in the hands of so few with payed for connections to Presidents. Spars with the 88 year old Milton Friedman who is exposed as being used by the wealthiest Americans to get what they wanted - no regulation and no gov't oversight.
Jamie says: "Contrary to common assumption, many of the wealthiest Americans aren't worried about the weakening economy at all, they are actually excited about it. To them, the crisis in the housing market, the recent slide in stock prices, and the general loss in purchasing power for millions of Americans have resulted in the thinning of the aristocratic ranks, or in other words, have decreased demand for the highest level of luxury living. Ironically, for the mega-rich, recession brings with it the ability to live well at a lower cost and with less of a hassle.
For the past eight years, I have been chronicling in documentary films the lives of the vastly rich and the role they play in the economy. As a member of the family that founded the Johnson and Johnson pharmaceutical company, I have been given unprecedented access to Whitneys, Vanderbilts, Forbeses, Gateses, Buffetts and Bloombergs. I have seen firsthand how many of these families run their businesses and I have watched them react to sudden shifts in the market and changing economic conditions. And now, with the threat of a recession looming on the horizon, I hear many of them saying-" Thank God, it's about time."

David H. Koch and his brother Charles are lifelong libertarians and have quietly given more than a hundred million dollars to right-wing causes.

In 1986, David Koch helped found the Citizens for a Sound Economy, and has given over $21 million to the Cato Institute. One 1997 study by the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy identified 12 American foundations that have had a key influence on US public policy since the 1960s, particularly via their support for the Heritage Foundation, American Enterprise Institute and Cato Institute. Three of these 12 are Koch Family Foundations (Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation, Claude R. Lambe Charitable Foundation, David H. Koch Charitable Foundation). Charles Koch co-founded the Cato Institute, whilst David Koch sits on its board.

Rethuglican Candidate in Boston

class warfare

[ ... 1990 In an interview this week, Mr. Weld insisted he could make the budget cuts.

He would find the excess, he said, by going into what are known as the "budget busters," expensive programs like Medicaid and state employee pension plans that are fixed by law. "They are not untouchable; there are more efficient ways of managing them," Mr. Weld said.
A summa cum laude graduate of Harvard College, as well as a graduate of Harvard Law School, Mr. Weld is married to a law school classmate who is a great-granddaughter of President Theodore Roosevelt. The Welds live with their five children in a large early-19th-century Federalist house off Brattle Street in Cambridge, normally a liberal address. He is an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman.
During his stint as United States Attorney in Boston, Mr. Weld developed a reputation as a tough prosecutor, winning convictions against officials of former Mayor Kevin H. White's administration, as well as members of Boston's organized crime family. In the campaign, Mr. Weld's brand of literate, upper-class humor sometimes left reporters confused.

Once, when asked where he got his money, Mr. Weld paraphrased an old Boston joke about a Beacon Hill matron: "We don't get money, we have money."

Hannah Bell's Outstanding Research, Republic of Money: The Koch Brothers 2011

HARRY KOCH (circa 1867)
Information on Fred Koch's immigrant father "Harry" Koch is sketchy. Harry had been trained as a printer. He quickly got into the newspaper business in Quanah. In 1891, (about age 24) he bought out one of the local papers. He bought out another three years later. In 1918 he was President of the Texas Press Association. The name he chose for his son -- Fred Chase Koch -- is evidence of one of those friendships.

Fred Chase Koch was surely named for Fred Chase, Harry's brother-in-law. Chase was about 10 years older than Koch, and arrived in Texas (from Maine, reportedly son of William & Louisa Folsom Chase, old Yankee stock) the same year Koch immigrated to the US. Like Koch, he was a newspaperman. Koch & he married two sisters, Mattie & Minnie Mixon, at approximately the same time (1890s).
After some years working papers in Galveston and Colorado, in 1910 Chase had became the editor of the Quanah Observer, another Quanah paper: the loyal family competition, possibly.
Fred Chase Koch, son of Harry, namesake of Fred Chase, & the founder of Koch Industries, was born in 1900.
Harry gave Fred an excellent (& expensive) education for his time: Texas's Rice Institute (now Rice University, longtime fiefdom of the Baker-Botts-Farish gang) & MIT. His brother John Anton Koch, who stayed with his father at the paper, had a similar education. It's surprising there could be so much money in a paper with a circulation of about 2000.

Fred C. Koch, founder of the John Birch Society
graduated as a chemical engineer and got a job in the nascent oil industry (The Texas Company, formed as a result of the Spindletop strike, soon to become Texaco: He then went to work for Medway Oil in Britain. Medway Oil took over Power Petroleum in 1924 & seems to have been involved in supplying the Soviet Union with fuel during the post-revolution Civil War & thereafter:
Medway/Power Petrol eventually became part of the Royal Dutch Shell/British Petroleum conglomerate. This experience is suggestive as to the kind of connections that Koch might have taken back to Texas with him -- in light of Britain's earlier support of the Southern slave system, the Confederacy & the Texas War of Independence -- as is Harry Koch's Dutch background itself, considering the close historical relationship between Dutch & British capital.
Like his father, Fred named his own son (Charles de Ganahl Koch, one of the living Koch brothers) after his mentor -- his boss at Medway, Charles de Ganahl -- also a Texan, by way of Switzerland or Austria. At any rate, Fred Chase Koch went back to Texas, started his own series of oil-related companies, eventually financed the John Birch Society (one of the foundational moments for the New Right), and the rest is history.

Just one more Koch connection to relate.

Fred Chase Koch married Mary Clementine Robinson in 1932 (He was 32, she was 25).
Ernest F. Robinson
Mary C. Robinson (1907) + Fred Chase Koch (1900)
Mary Burnet Kip (1876)

Mary C. Robinson was the daughter of "prominent" Kansas City surgeon & U. of Kansas medical professor Ernest Robinson.
Mary C. Robinson's mother, Mary Burnet Kip, was the daughter of the US Foreign Service diplomat William Ingraham Kip (Jr.).

Wm. Ingraham Kip (Jr.) (1840)
Mary Burnet Kip (1876)
Elizabeth C. Kinney (1842)

Kip Jr. was the son of William Ingraham Kip Sr, for 40 years the missionary episcopal bishop of California, scion of an old and distinguished family going back to Dutch New York. Kip Sr's wife was the daughter of merchant and banker Isaac Lawrence.

Mary C. Robinson's grandmother, Elizabeth Clementine Kinney, was the daughter of two writers, William Burnet Kinney and Elizabeth Clementine Dodge.

William Burnet Kinney (1799)
Elizabeth C. Kinney (1842)
Elizabeth Clementine Dodge (1810)

William Burnet Kinney was also a publicist, the owner of the Newark Advertiser, and a diplomat. The couple spent a lot of time in Italy hanging out in literary salons with the likes of the poet Robert Browning.

Elizabeth Clementine Dodge, the writer & diplomat's wife, was the Koch brothers' great-great grandmother.
She was the daughter of David Low Dodge & Sarah Cleveland
-- two highly connected families that between them are probably intermarried with most of the American ruling class.

David Low Dodge (1774)
Elizabeth Clementine Dodge (1810)
Sarah Cleveland (1780)

Sarah Cleveland was the aunt of two-time President Grover Cleveland.
Her mother was a Folsom, one of a tribe that had settled New Hampshire & Maine -- interestingly, as Fred Chase's mother was also a Maine Folsom.
Husband David Low Dodge, businessman, was also a distant relation of the developer of William Grenville Dodge, the developer of the Ft Worth & Denver Railroad that ran through Quanah. Sarah & David L. Dodge spawned a powerful & long-lived business dynasty.
Son William Earl Dodge (1805) founded the metal & mining company Phelps-Dodge with his father-in-law Anson Greene Phelps. Phelps-Dodge was acquired by Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. in 2007.

In other words, Elizabeth Clementine Dodge's brother founded Phelps-Dodge, one of the most important metal/mining companies in the world for over 100 years.

Which means that the Koch brothers' great-grandmother, Elizabeth Clementine Kinney, was the first cousin of William Earl Dodge II (1833-1903), for many years one of the two controlling partners in the company (check out WE Dodge Jr's other businesses as well):

Which means that the Koch brothers' grandmother, Mary Burnet Kip, was a second cousin of William Earl Dodge III, whose wife was Emeline Harriman (d. 1938), daughter of the financier Oliver Harriman.

Harriman's mentor & business partner was James Low, a member of the same clan as David Low Dodge's mother Anna. Oliver married James Low's daughter Laura.

Oliver Harriman was the mentor to his nephew, the railroad tycoon Edward Henry Harriman 1848, whose son was Averell Harriman (1891), associate of Prescott Bush & George Herbert Walker via Brown Brothers.

Which means that the Koch brothers' mother, Mary Clementine Robinson (1907-1990, Wellesley College) was the third cousin of all the Phelps-Dodge descendants, including Marcellus Hartley Dodge (1881, President Remington Arms), husband of Ethel Geraldine Rockefeller (1882), the niece of John Davison Rockefeller.

David Low Dodge (1774) + Cleveland
William Earl Dodge (1805)
Norman White Dodge + Hartley (1846)
Marcellus Hartley Dodge + Rockefeller (1882-1973)

This is interesting to me because the Kochs are often implied to be right-wing "enemies" of the supposedly liberal Rockefeller wing of Capital.

Makes you wonder.

Mary C. Koch was, of course, a philanthropist.

State records also show that Koch Industries, their energy and consumer products conglomerate based in Wichita, Kan., was one of the biggest contributors to the election campaign of Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin, a Republican who has championed the proposed cuts.

Sarah Palin's Husband Exposed!

Uploaded on Aug 30, 2008 Video created by Norm Augustinus... In 1996 Bristol Palin daughter of Sarah Palin (presumptive vice-presidential republican nominee) was attending Iditarod Elementary School in Alaska. The teacher asked the students to ask their parents if they had any unwanted video cameras they could donate (for skits). Bristol Palin brought in a camera. The spurious VHS tape found inside that camera featured her husband Todd Palin talking aloud to five-year old Bristol (she's holding the camera) about wife Sarah Palin regarding her 1996 Wasilla election win. (Her first term as mayor) DON'T MISS THIS! YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT THIS MAN SAYS!
